STEELPOORT – Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine (DCM) gave recognition to 89 employees for their long service with the company, during a glittering awards ceremony held at Tubatse Chrome Club on October 11.
It was an afternoon of catching up with colleagues and friends and for sharing good memories with the staff recognised for their long service.The employees received certificates for their loyalty and dedication to DCM.
Among the attendees was the management of the mine led by Rian Burger the general manager (GM), as well as chairman of Assore Limited, Desmond Sacco.
Burger said they had staff who stood with them through tough and challenging times. He also congratulated the recipients and thanked their families for their contribution throughout the years.
“Today we are here to celebrate and acknowledge the employees’s long and loyal service to the mine. They were here with us during the good and bad times. Nothing is more important to us than our people going home safely every day.”
Sacco detailed a brief history of Assore Limited, a mining holding company principally engaged in ventures involving base minerals and metals.
“Assore was founded back in 1932. During the years we had workers who stood with us for over 30 to 40 years. DCM is the best chrome mine in South Africa and one of the best assets of Assore.”
Sacco highlighted that staff will also be rewarded financially for their sterling job at the mine. On behalf of the recipients, one of the employees, Patrick Mokoena said they were thrilled the mine rewarded them for excellence and loyalty.
“We work in diverse roles and all have a part to play in contributing to the success of DCM as individuals, teams and as (a driving force behind) whole operations and functions.We will cherish the awards handed to us and we are grateful to the support from our management and our CEO.”
Employees with an uninterrupted service of 10 years or more were presented with a long service award from the company.
