LYDENBURG – A road rage incident at the corner of Viljoen and Buhrman Street left a NiDA truck driver with a gaping head wound.
The incident happened just before 14:00 today. According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the truck drove over the four-way stop and almost collided with another vehicle. A squabble about the right of way between the truck driver and a navy vehicle occurred. Both the truck driver and the man in the other car got out of the vehicles and exchanged words on account of the incident.
“The man driving the navy vehicle then grabbed a wheel spanner and hit the truck driver over the head,” an eyewitness told the Steelburger/Lydenburg News.
The newspaper accidentally stumbled upon the scene. The truck driver was in shock in bleeding profusely from a gaping head wound. The newspaper phoned hazmat operator, Deon Broekman, for assistance. Ryno Scheepers arrived at the scene. Scheepers treated the driver and transported him to Lydenburg hospital.
The driver of the car left the scene after the assault. The truck driver nor any of the eyewitnesses could recall the license plate of the man that was driving the navy car.
