Community ends 2017 on healthy note

Gogos Makgalemele Moshidi and Livia Moila completed the run.

Last year was concluded in a sporting manner when Ngwaabe’s marathon runner, Thato “Oomlegs” Malekane organised a fun run for the communities surrounding Steelpoort. The event was held on Christmas Day.

The race started at Nkokwane Primary School at Ga-Mampuru Village and finished at Lavita Car Wash in Ga-Malekane. Open to everyone, the participants included people from all levels of society, from eager youths to gogos of 65 up to 75 years old. Those who completed the race were awarded gold medals. The runners were also given an opportunity to attend a free one-hour aerobics class presented at the car wash. Malekane thanked the sponsors and members of the community for coming in numbers and taking part in the race.

“The event was a success. We are planning to host the run annually. Maybe this will encourage the youth to focus more on sport,” Malekane said.
