Police ready for action in Driekop

The community of Driekop are happy to have a new station.

BURGERSFORT – The arm of the law has been extended in the Driekop area in the form of a brand-new police station. The Driekop Police Station was recently officially launched in France Village to combat crime in the village and its surrounding areas. Previously, residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the police and the lack of services, particularly in criminal prosecution and certifying documents. Police spokesman, Const Victoria Maluleke, said Driekop SAPS has already begun rolling out services. “A task team had been established to deal with criminal cases, while additional police, including K9 units, and public order police have been placed at the police station. Additional vehicles have also been allocated to the station. The station is going to operate on a 24-hour basis.” Burgersfort cluster commander, Maj Gen Masipa Maepa, said the station is a relief to the communities. He also commended the police for their dedication and hard work. “Driekop SAPS will reduce the workload from other stations. This is a bonus in our quest to bring crime to a zero level,” Maepa added. The station’s commander is Capt Solly Phasha. The station will be policing areas such as Ga-Mahlokoane, Garagopola, Sekopung, Motlolo, Mathipa, Gowe, France, Driekop, Ga-Maroga, Maandagshoek, Mooihoek and Riba Cross.
