The counterfeit clothes.

The local SAPS’s public order police embarked on an operation to combat crime in the town and nearby communities. The operation took place on October 20. It involved stop and searches as well as visiting communities in Extension 10. A 35-year-old Nigerian man was arrested with counterfeit clothes in his possession.”The team proceeded to the CBD where they arrested a Pakistani man who was also found selling counterfeit creams and lotions,” said communication officer of Burgersfort SAPS, Const Victoria Maluleka. According to Maluleka the two foreigners were released after they each paid a R1 000 admission of guilt fine.

• The Burgersfort SAPS arrested a 34-year-old man on October 31 for possession of suspected stolen property.

“Three men were spotted at the traffic lights next to Afrox. The police approached them. Two of them ran away while the third man was cornered and arrested by the police,” Maluleke said. The man was found with a grinder and a toolbox.

He is in custody and its not yet known when he will appear at the Burgersfort Magistrate’s Court.
