UPDATE: Unrest on roads Burgersfort

BURGERSFORT/RIBACROSS – Traffic is yet again at a standstill due to protests on the R37 direction Polokwane. Late last night people were gathering at the roadside to begin their march for their voices to be heard. They demand electricity. This morning at 03:00 the protesters began burning barrels and tyres. Traffic is slowly flowing and motorists can pass on the shoulder of the road. SAPS is on scene. Trucks are now blocking the R37 by the T-junction to Steelpoort. People are advised to make use of alternative routes due to traffic building up. The Doornbos road is open but motorists are advised to use it with caution due to high speed bumps and uneven road surface.

BURGERSFORT – Surrounding areas are being blocked off and motorists are being thrown with rocks. The R37 T-junction towards Steelpoort is being blocked by two chrome trucks. Chrome has been dumped on the road during the night. Police is on the scene and things are currently calm. People who decide to make use of the Doornbos road are said to use it cautiously due to high speed bumps and uneven terrain.
