ROAD UPDATE: Long Tom Pass closed

LYDNEBURG – The Long Tom Pass will be closed until further notice after a truck lost its load just after 09:00 this morning.

According to hazmat operator, Deon Broekman, the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and rolled just before the Jesus Hill about 10 kilometres out of town. The truck was transporting sugar.

“The driver of the truck sustained a broken hip and several cuts and bruises and was taken to Lydenburg hospital. The truck has to be recovered and hence the pass will be closed for several hours until further notice.”

Motorists are urged to make use of the R36/Badfontein road as an alternative route. Those making their way to Innibos via the pass should be aware of delays on this road.
