Head-on collision in Steelpoort claims the life of Tazz driver

STEELPOORT – A man died after his Toyota Tazz collided with a Ford Ranger Wildtrak on the R555 last Friday.According to Burgersfort SAPS, the accident occurred at about 18:45 at the curve near Jorge’s Resort.Eyewitnesses told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that the driver lost control of the Tazz before it collided with the Ford and overturned, striking the steel barriers on the side of the road.According to the police, an investigation was launched after the incident.The man, who is believed to be in his early 30s, died at the scene. He was the only person in the Tazz.There were four people, a couple and two children in the Ford Ranger. They had minor injuries.Police at the scene confirmed that the injured were rushed to the nearby Dilokong Hospital.The road was closed to traffic for an hour. Provincial spokesman for transport, safety, security and liaison, Mr Kagiso Mootane, said the most-common causes for accidents were speeding, and reckless and negligent driving.She urged motorist all over the province to drive with the utmost care.
