Past James Malapane's house was torched.

BURGERSFORT – Limpopo SAPS have condemned the murders of two men who were burnt and stoned to death by a mob at Sekopung Village’s Legabeng section on Sunday night. The victims have been identified as Past James Malapane (75) and Doctor Maile (25).The mob also torched two vehicles, a Ford Laser and an Fiat Uno Fire, and broke all the windows of a six-roomed house which belonged to Malapane.Police spokesman, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, said that after a community meeting on Sunday, a group of people believed that Kgadi Dibakwana (17), who recently went missing, had last been seen with Maile.”The girl was alleged to have accompanied Maile to collect money he owed the girl’s family. When Maile was asked about the whereabouts of the girl, he allegedly told the mob that Dibakwana was with Malapane.”Maile was then marched to Malapane’s house and when the girl was not found, the mob started stoning both men and set them alight.”According to the police, Malapane’s seven children and two wives escaped unhurt. When Steelburger/Lydenburg News visited the village on Monday, the situation was still tense and roads were barricaded with tyres and rocks. Police reinforcements were sent to the area.”These acts of vigilantism and mob justice must be condemned in the strongest terms possible.”We cannot allow communities to continue adopting this trajectory of taking the law into their hands. Anybody who took part in this brutal attack will be dealt with mercilessly,” said Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba. Kgadi is still missing.
