Woman held at gunpoint at ferrochrome bricks

STEELPOORT – A woman was held at gunpoint at Ferrochrome Brick Yard on Saturday.

Four men, pretending to be customers, asked for a quotation for bricks but refused to give any personal information to an employee. The woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, gave them a quotation.

Being secure behind safety glass and a safety door, the men had to think of another plan to get into her office. They demanded to see the bricks she had quoted them on.

As it is part of her job to assist customers, she went outside to help them. This was when one of the men pointed a gun at her.

Employee and bookkeeper of the company, Ms Bianca Pheasant, told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that on CCTV video footage one could see how the woman was pushed back into her office and the men demanded cash and valuables.

They took her cellphones, a laptop and more than R8 000 in cash. According to the victim, one of the culprits kept demanding that they shoot her, while another said they should leave because she gave them what they wanted.

They took off in a Toyota Fortuner without number plates. A case has been opened by the police. Anyone who recognises these men are urged to contact their nearest police station.
