With its success in the 2016 matric results, Mathews Phosa College in Schoemanskloof once again proved to many that it is one of the best schools in Mpumalanga.

The college creates that sort of environ-ment where pupils feel at home even though they are at school. This is according to a former learner, Charity Ruzvidzo.

“The guardian system helps us to uplift one another to greater heights. Teachers help in guiding pupils to be wise in decision- making and also to motivate them to perform their very best. They allow them to exercise their abilities and reach their full potential,” said Ruzvidzo.

The school has the children’s best interests at heart, it is run by order and discipline with zero tolerance of misbehaviour or rebellion. It disciplines them without corporal punishment and helps them to learn punctuality, prioritising, and responsibility.

The school is situated in breathtaking scenery. According to the pupils, the natural setting is beautiful, relaxing and helps one to focus

“Mathews Phosa College has been a great experience for me, I learned to take responsibility for my own life,” Eric Mahlalela, a former learner reiterated. Mahlalela went on to add that the college is providing education of high standard.

“The excellent and qualified teachers are always there to offer a hand whenever you struggle. It is the sort of bond that I’ve only felt at this school where you can really relate to a teacher and see that they truly believe in you. It inspires pupils to push harder and achieve the best results possible.”
