BURGERSFORT – After months of struggling with access to clean water, Peermont Tubatse Community Trust came to the rescue of Masethankge Community Crèche. The company recently donated a 5 000-litre water tank to the crèche, which is connected to a local borehole in Mashifane Park. The tank is an addition to the funding of about R150 000, which has already been invested into the crèche by the Peermont group.According to Nomsa Mqhitsane, public relations assistant at Peermont, the benefits of clean running water will help ensure that the children adopt hygienic practices that are often taken for granted. “This includes washing their hands and having access to toilets that are able to flush,” Mqhitsane added.

Ms Leah Shirinda, the principal of the crèche, was extremely grateful and indicated that the running water will help eradicate diseases and ultimately improve the children’s overall health.

“We can now start our vegetable garden, which will help supply fruits and vegetables for the kids.”

In addition, the trust also installed an electrified fence around the school.
